A guest house, sometimes referred to as a casita or in-law suite, is a separate living space located on the same property as the main house. Typically, it functions as a self-contained accommodation, complete with a bedroom, bathroom, and sometimes a small kitchen or kitchenette.

The owner most often lives in the guest house, or on the property in a separate dwelling. Guests can be any age, but some younger travelers prefer the lower prices of hostels. Guests are primarily international travellers - individuals and couples - not large groups, families in general, or large families specifically.
